What is a Content Management System? (CMS)

The Content Management System, or CMS, provides a number of web tools to facilitate the website building process, and helps a non-technical end user build a completed site. The CMS tools enable the end user to create, move and delete new sub-pages, on virtually unlimited levels. Using a powerful WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editor that is integrated on every page, the end user can edit content anywhere on the site. This includes the modification of text, tables, hyperlinks, documents, articles, news and images.

Additionally there is a set of 12 modules that provide additional functionality that any website could use and increases the level of interaction between site users, thus creating an interactive community. Each page and each application has their own meta tags and descriptions making the site very search engine friendly.

Optional Modules Provide Additional Functionality:

News

The News module allows items to be placed in the system and, as time passes, the system will archive the items for better placement management.This means that the system won’t get cluttered. The system also allows for a “blurb” to be placed anywhere on any page and once clicked on, bring the reader to a page where the entire article is displayed.

Articles

Articles differ from news items in that articles can be assigned to categories. This allows for the creation of libraries of data that are all fully searchable by the system. As above in the News module, Articles can be archived.

Frequently Asked Questions

The FAQ module is a simple syste that allows clients to ask questions and you to post answers to those questions. This module can be open or closed: Open means that anyone that comes to the site can ask questions. Closed means that only administrators can add content.

Feedback

An easy-to-use Feedback form that can be completely customized. Once a form has been filled out a copy is e-mailed to the designated administrator of this section. In addition, the data is kept in the system in a fully searchable database.

Downloads

The Downloads module allows for the management of various types of documents and other objects. Documents can be separated by categories. This is a perfect module for companies that want to offer PDFs, Word Documents and other items to their customers. The types of files that can be stored in the system are:

• ZIP – Files that have been compressed.
• EXE – Executable files, also known as programs
• DOC – Documents, such as Microsoft Word documents
• IMG – Images, such as .jpg, .bmp, .gif and others
• MOV – Apple Quicktime movie
• PDF – Adobe Portable Document Format
• TXT – A text file
• XLS – An excel spreadsheet
• HTML – A Hypertext Markup Language file
• SWF – A Flash file
• WAVE – A .wav audio file
• RealMedia – A RealMedia audio or video file
• Mp3 – An audio file in the MP3 format
• other – Other file types
• CHM – Compiled Help Files.

Forum

The Forum is a basic Bulletin Board System that can be used to bring a community of users together. If a client has a need for a more feature-filled BBS we have several options available.

Guest Book

The Guest Book is a basic way for visitors to the site to leave their name and a short message.

Job Listing

The ability to post current jobs and to break them out by category.

Photo Albums

A simple to use Photo Gallery that allows pictures to be broken up into various albums. This is a phenomenal tool for e-commerce, event driven and/or continually changing or daily specials.

Portfolio

The Portfolio system allows customers to feature some of their work in a formatted context. Very useful for construction companies and artists, or anyone who would like to show off their work.

Subscribe

Subscribe is the newsletter management system. Clients can sign up for the newsletter and the system will then allow the administrator to send newsletters to those individuals, based on the choices they have made during the sign up process.

Poll

A Poll or Survey System allows the administrator to ask questions and provide a list of several answer choices.

Search

This module allows the entire site to be searched.  This is an advanced and unique feature for web browsers, turning the entire site into a searchable engine.
